Isabel Adamson's Home Page

Permanently under constructionHi and welcome, on this fine , to my home page. These pages are permanently under construction in spare moments so if you find a broken link or a goof just ignore it - I'll get round to it eventually, maybe. My working background is secretarial but I'm now long retired from my last job which was with Morgan Blair Recruitment in Dunfermline.

I now live in Rosyth, Fife with my husband, Bob; more or less a full circle as I was born only a few miles from here in Cowdenbeath, although in the intervening period I've lived and worked in various places as Bob's work took him all around the UK. I first attended school at Broad Street Primary in Cowdenbeath, then on to secondary school at Beath High School before starting work in Cowdenbeath with the Coal Board in the wages department back in the days when wages were calculated using a comptometer and paid out in cash in little wage envelopes with windows so that workers could count and check their wages for errors before opening the envelope. Sadly we wages clerkesses were never allowed to visit the mines themselves (there were dozens in Fife at that time) much as we'd have liked to so it was left to others to actually distribute the wages to the miners. My real interest was in secretarial work though and after the Coal Board I worked as a shorthand secretary for a variety of companies at various levels up to Director's PA in Elgin, Auchterderran, Amersham, Lincoln, Wateringbury (Kent) and finally Dunfermline before retiring here to Rosyth.

Now that I'm retired I have time at last for my hobbies - knitting (I've been able to knit since before I went to school), needlework, watching soaps and gardening (we have a large garden and 2 greenhouses, the largest of which is all mine ;) ).
